Mimi Brown is a Chicago-based writer, performer, & multimedia artist passionate about bringing fresh, unique stories to life.
Since childhood, Mimi has taken advantage of every chance to create. What began as building cardboard sculptures in her Nana’s basement after elementary school has since blossomed into an insatiable desire to learn, collaborate, and create in every medium. This eventually led her to Boston University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Film and Television with a minor in Theatre Arts.
It was at BU that Mimi fell in love with the art of sitcom writing. During her senior year, her first pilot, Monday School, was selected to be staged as part of Boston University School of Theatre’s 2024 Springboard Series. Weeks later, the script was presented with an entirely new cast at Catalyst Story Institute’s Catalyst Content Festival, where it was named ‘Best Student Script.’
Mimi spent her final Boston summer completing her third year leading the Front of House team at Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, which brings the beloved tradition of free, accessible outdoor theatre to the Boston Common each year. Her experience with the company was absolutely life-changing and inspired her second pilot, Audience Services, which is currently in post-production.
Now, Mimi resides in Chicago, where she studies as a member of GOLD Comedy, writes for the digital sketch team “Let Her Cook,” and posts regularly on Substack.
When she’s not writing, you can find Mimi creating collages, running Chicago’s Lakefront Trail, or spending more than she’d like to admit on an almondmilk cortado.
Soon, she will be relocating to New York City, where she’ll be working as an Associate Producer on fellow BU Alum James Patrick Nelson’s newest project and continuing to develop her solo show.
