With roots in Kansas City and St. Louis, and currently based in New York City, Mimi Brown (she/her) is a writer, performer, and multimedia artist with particular affinities for the ensemble comedy and the run-on sentence.
Since childhood, Mimi has taken advantage of every chance to create. What began as building cardboard sculptures in her Nana’s basement after elementary school has since blossomed into an insatiable desire to learn, collaborate, and create in every medium.
Her sitcom pilots — Monday School and Audience Services — have received developmental readings at the Boston University Fringe Festival, Catalyst Story Institute, and The Comedy Studio in Cambridge, MA. Monday School, recognized as Catalyst Story Institute’s 2024 Best Student Script, is currently in development as a web series, while Audience Services is currently in post-production.
Her first stageplay, Middle Man, was produced as a reading at the Cornservatory in Chicago before making its NYC debut as full-scale production with Iris Bahr’s Neuroticafest at Under St Marks. Mimi played opposite her younger sister, Nora, in the Chicago production before taking on the dual role of Millie/Marge in NYC.
Additional stage credits include 12 Angry Jurors (#8), No Exit (Estelle), Deathtrap (Clifford), and Ride the Cyclone (Ricky Potts) with Boston University Stage Troupe, Llorona, or the Weeping Women (Joane) at the Boston Center for the Arts, and The Desperate Hours (Cindy Hilliard) at the Theater Guild of Webster Groves.
Her visual art and poetry have won awards from the board of the St. Louis Literary Award, have been published in Boston University’s literary magazine, and, most recently, were on view at Chicago’s Fine Arts Building with Broken Radiator Collective. She regularly shares poetry and personal essays on Substack.
Mimi is the Artistic Director of PK Productions, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating meaningful opportunities for emerging artists.
She holds a BS in Film and Television and a minor in Theatre Arts from Boston University.
